Fantastic views from Yarrahapinni Mountain

The Nambucca Valley now has a new natural attraction to add to the “must do” list for visitors with the opening of the Yarriabini Lookout today. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has improved visitor facilities a the lookout precinct with the involvement and support of the Gumbaynggirr and Dunghutti Aboriginal peoples – the traditional custodiansof the lands including Yarriabini National Park.

NPWS Area Manager for the Coffs Coast, Mr. Glenn Storrie, said the lookout would be a valuable addition to the tourism infrastructure of the Nambucca Valley.“The Nambucca Shire is renowned for its diverse natural beauty stretching from the mountains to the sea.”Mr. Storrie said.“Yarriabini Lookout offers locals and visitors alike a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the magnificent views over Trail Bay and the Macleay River estuary.”Yarriabini Lookout is located just below summit of Mt. Yarrahapinni, in Yarriabini National Park, 10 kilometers south-east of Macksville. The area has been enhanced for visitors by the construction of a car park, information shelter and a picnic area to ensure a safe and enjoyable viewing point.

The views are spectacular, looking south-east over lush macademia farms to the Macleay River estuary and Trial Bay.The dramatic coastline near Smoky Cape in Hat Head National Park forms an impressive backdrop to the towns of South West Rocks and Arakoon. There are 13 National Parks and nature reserves in the Nambucca Valley. There are improved visitors facilities at the Pines picnic area, nearby Yarriabini National Park, where new information panels have just been installed.
